She blinked for a moment at the silence. Silence meant all different things to Rachel. It was either disbelief, admiration, complete and utter disgust without an ability to speak. But…Mr. Hudson wasn’t like the rest. He always proclaimed himself her number one fan and she appreciated that. It helped to have an instructor who actually believed in her rather than roll their eyes.
So then why the silence? It was beginning to unnerve her…just a tiny bit.
But then he spoke and for a moment she was worried he would be like the rest, a fake word here and there with a roll of his eyes as she looked away. But..what came out instead had her blinking her eyes as she stared at him. ”Challenge myself?” She slowly blinked as she stared down at her piles and piles of papers. Everything here was usually a part of her CD collection too. It was all showtunes, ballads, anything of that sort. But a challenge?
She wrinkled her nose and glanced up at him. ”Do you mean like pop? Maybe a Britney Spears song?” that had to work, right? She never really listened to the girl…alright maybe she listened once or twice to Baby Hit Me….or maybe ten…thirty… That wasn’t the point! It wasn’t as common in her CD collection as her showtunes. Maybe that could help?
Finn couldn’t help but let out a loud belly laugh as he shook his head and grinned over at the girl. “You think a Britney Spears song would be challenging? God, Rach, give yourself some credit; you’d kick her ass in a sing off.” Still smiling, he shook his head again. She was adorab-
No, no she wasn’t, she was his student.
“No, I was thinking something along the lines of classic rock. The Rolling Stones, Queen, REO Speedwagon.” Wiggling his eyebrows, he took a sip from his drink. “In showchoirs, you’re bound to get a lot of showtunes, so that’s why we need to shake things up. Maybe we could even try you with some Journey.” As he bit his lip, he found himself staring at her hands of all things. Small, dainty, perfectly manicured. He gulped.
“It’d mean more rehearsal time for you though. We might have to start doing one on one sessions until you get the hang of it, then we can bring in the rest of the club to harmonise in the background. Does that sound good?”
He tried to ignore the butterflies in his stomach at the idea of spending more alone time with her.
